Am I the asshole for breaking up with my psyche major boyfriend?

I (f19) was dating (m22). For the sake of the store I’ll call him John. John and I had been dating for a year and a half and I finally was able to get therapy.

For reference I didn’t understand my issuance until recently and was able to get therapy. I was diagnosed with BPD a few weeks ago which makes a lot of sense. And it felt incredibly nice to have a proper diagnosis and treatment plan. After my diagnosis I was private about it to everyone except for him because of the stigma behind behind personality disorders and I confused in him about it because I love and trusted him.

The other week he left his phone unlocked by me and I felt an intense paranoia and against better judgement went through it where I found a conversation he had about me to a college buddy of his. To make a long story short he claimed to have already known after hanging around me a few months and manipulated the situation to become my favorite person.

Anyone who is aware of bpd knows how dangerous it can be to have a favorite person and unfortunately he had succeeded. He bragged about being the only person I see regularly and even bragged about the times he’d switch up his behavior just to keep me on my toes. Him being a psyche major make this even more Evil in my personal opinion. He even wrote a damn college paper about me. Without my knowledge or consent!

When I discover this I confronted him and left him. He claimed that he’s the only good person for me because he understands what I am and what I need. None of my old friends speak to me do to my pre diagnosis behavior and I respect that. I’m just incredibly i lonely and need to know if this loneliness is worth it.
