I updated right after the launch and I’m pretty happy with this beta.
I have an iPhone 14 Pro Max:
- Fixed the keyboard issues, which were quite annoying specially on Telegram
- Phone feels more stable than with previous beta
- Battery is quite good. Can be some weird placebo effect but sometimes feels better than the stable version of iOS 16.
What’s your guys feedback?
Which keyboard bug? I’m still experiencing the bug where you can type but the text input field isn’t visible, especially in messages. I’m also on a 14 pro max.
I’m on a 13 Mini and am getting the same issue - the input field isn’t visible unless you hit “return” and then it pops up. Which is an improvement from the previous version, where you had to quit the app and reopen it for the field to appear.
I can get the input field to come back in messages by backing out of the conversation then go back in. But I do have to quit all the other apps.
Yeah, I guess same here. I’ve also found that if you hit “return” it pops up without having to go out and then back in.
Keyboard has been very buggy in latest betas. Happened to me sometimes just disappearing and having to close the app (happened a lot on Safari and Telegram), and with Telegram it’s behaviour was downright buggy.
Now it’s fixed and I haven’t had any issue with it lately.
You’re running latest beta?
Yeah, running DB 4. I mostly see my keyboard bugs in messages. I haven’t had the safari keyboard bug occur on DB 4 yet, although I did have it on DB 3.
DB3 was kind of a mess with the keyboard but I’m finding it more stable now.
Looks also like there was a fix to a bug when on an active call where the screen would flash randomly - now it stays steady. Must have been a bug in the new active call screen that got squashed.
DB4 seems more stable and also seems to be a little more battery friendly from what I’ve seen so far.
So basically, I agree with your points as things I have also noticed so far.
Next beta I will wait a few hours befor upgrading since this one is so good. I remember people saying that the Beta 5 of iOS 16 was a disaster so, dont want to need to downgrading the phone since I’m also running the beta on Apple Watch and as far as I know there’s no way of downgrading to stable.
You should always wait a bit… in case of trouble Apple will pull / fix the update, so let others give their feedback first.
I have a fun new keyboard bug where sometimes a letter will get repeated after a space. So I might type “letter”, and I’ll end up with “letter r”. Not entirely sure how that happens yet.
@traveler01 I’m having an issue where message notifications are not always “dinging” on my phone (13 Pro Max w/ PB2) or Watch (S8 45mm w/ PB2), but if I turn my Watch off, I will get a notification. Multiple restarts of each, but I’m only 26 hours on the beta.
I did notice that most of my issues with PB1 in-between both devices resolved after 48 hours w/o a reboot, so here’s hoping…
I can’t explain it but I removed my case and wireless charging works again. After I put the case back on, it still works. Case is a Nomad Sport Case.
I have an issue with Notes, it crashes every time I open it. I’ve tried turning off iCloud sync and turning it back on but it doesn’t work. I’m waiting for BD5 to see if it fixes.
Is wireless charging working for everyone? It doesn’t work for me on iPhone 14 Pro Max, and iOS 17 DB4.

My keyboard shortcuts seem to have stopped working.
I had one where I used to be able to type @@ and it would fill in my email. Doesn’t seem to work any more.
