Lemmy’s mod tools have gained notoriety for their limited functionality, and unfortunately, mods often miss out on timely notifications about user reports. To address this issue, we’re seeking additional vigilant eyes to ensure that reports are promptly handled.
What We’re Seeking:
- Engaged Community Members: We’re looking for individuals actively involved in the Lemmy platform and its community.
- Dedicated Moderators: People willing to proactively check lemmy.world in their browser for mod reports multiple times a day.
- Respectful and Positive Contributors: We value individuals who treat others with kindness and have a history of positive posts and comments within the community. If you are frequently downvoted or reported upon, your application won’t be considered.
- Adherence to Community Rules: Moderators should enforce rules based on both the community guidelines and the .world server rules outlined here.
Bonus Points:
If you’re located in Europe, Asia, Australia, or similar time zones, that’s a plus! We need moderators who can keep an eye on things while our American counterparts are catching some Z’s.
DM me if you’re interested!
Good luck on finding new mod. lemmy.world might be big but it also have a lot of community that’s since been abandoned.
Am from Malaysia(timezone gmt+8), I may be able to help if you need someone to remove clear cut violation(like CSAM or ads spam), but i don’t think i can help with enforcing the instance rule.

Y’all are competeing with Youtube/google on doing more censorship, I congratulate you all.
Youtube has not even taken down the Tucker Carlson Interview with Vladimir Putin…
You have become much worse than the companies we fight against, sad world we live in where just listening to diverse view points gets people scared that people might be forced to think outside of their bubbles and safe spaces.
Unfortunately, I am often the sole moderator watching this community. I am looking for help, but until then, I rely on report frequency and community feedback to guide my decisions about content. There will be times when mistakes are made, and I strive to do my best in representing the wishes of the majority in this community. The recent post generated 77 downvotes and a higher-than-average number of reports for rule 3 instance violations. While this specific content may not have been a good fit here, Lemmy’s diverse landscape offers other communities, or even the chance to create one, that might be more receptive to the full video.
Thank you for your explanation and reasoning.
Majority has the rule in this sub and I can understand that, if enough reports are made videos will be taken down.
I will be more careful in posting in other communities before this one, if it may be censored by the majority.
It’s clear that video would only do good in an echo chamber environment and most of those are defederated universally.
I do not understand what you mean…
It is okay for it to be downvoted to oblivion, it got a lot of engagment from the community, but it was censored due to “misinformation”.
A “journalist” interviewed a world leader, I would say that would still be an important view point, even if you label the journalist as fake or a russian puppet.
I have posted more Vladimir interviews done over the years by others in another community.
I agree it shouldn’t have been removed.
Ah, okay.
We agree on that!
Yes, lemmy can be criticial of corporations and gov’t in some cases, we should be criticial of especially politicians as well.
You’re on a platform that gets enraged by apple, tesla, & Samsung.
