The study doesn’t make any discussion about “refined fructose” AFAICT. So I don’t see how that would make a difference. They even reference the fact that it happens to hibernating animals, which are obviously eating fruits and natural fructose and not refined fructose.
They don’t seem to have studied the differences at all so I’m not sure you can draw any conclusion like you did. I think it would be a far more interesting study to see the effects of fructose which is still encased in its dietary fiber vs processed fructose. There are definitely a lot of people out there saying that there’s a big difference but I haven’t seen a good study yet.
Then just eat fruit instead of refined fructose.
