Just wanted to rant a bit as I’m having seeing that happening a bit more and more recently, not only on lemmy.world but also on Lemmy as a whole.
Makes it hard to keep you head cool sometimes, I think it’s even harder because I legitimately cannot understand what they are trying to do by being disrespectful.
I guess that comes with being a very niche platform for a very niche population.
Have a good one, everyone.
I don’t see trolling. I see a lot of people who love to be contrary.
No you don’t!
Yes I do!
I love arguing about politics, but some folks just get so mad when I hit them with a hot take that they stop trying to argue and start trolling instead. XD
Hi there, same issue. It has been getting a lot more lately. Most likely happens in waves until a new „cool kids“ server gets defederated or whatever. We recently had a japanese schoolkids troll attack which made waves. Mostly kids trying to gain clout or something.
Have a good one.
I think it’s the new cool kids too
That’s every aspect of life homie. Bad people are everywhere.
I know, I know, but some reasons we seem to get the very bad people, not the average bad ones
The very bad people are also in the other social media sites. It’s just that there’s so much, so, so, so, so much more people in those platforms, that you don’t see them as often.
Having said that, go to an Instagram public post comment section and marvel at the amount of vitriol and idiocy posted there.
Or go to a YouTube comment section and open the replies of the upvoted comments. Usually the upvoted comments are fine. But the replies, man, oh the replies.
Don’t get me started with Twitter!
Got one of those yesterday. Even if the likely reason why they were being disrespectful was soapboxing, banning people always leaves me with a sour taste in the mouth.
I think that those are growing pains, really. People have been leaving Twitter and specially Reddit for Lemmy, and that’s great, but for some it takes some time to adapt, and some are outright undesirable. It’s that sort of thing that we moderators (and the admins, too!) will need to deal with, but it takes time to weed this sort of behaviour out.
Have a good one you too, OP!
