Does anyone have suggestions on having a Facebook messenger convo removed and permanently deleted from both sides?

I have been deeply betrayed by someone I cared about, trusted, thought was a friend and only tried to help. They are trying to ruin all my relationships with friends and family and slander my name by cherry picking things told in confidence, much of which I now realize I was manipulated into discussing, on Facebook messenger. I have tried reporting the convo to Facebook but they aren’t doing anything. The person blocked me so that I cannot unsend any of my messages. I feel so stupid for having trusted them but I have known them most of my life and had no idea they would do this.

I am desperately seeking any way to remove the messages I sent so they cannot hurt me further. They made up several lies that, if cherry picked, the messages support. They have reached out to my spouse to push them to leave me and have been sending messages to many of my friends and family, as well as posting things on Facebook, they also reached out to my place of work to attempt to have me fired.

I understand that it is difficult to take the word of a stranger but I swear that I am telling the truth and am only seeking suggestions on ways to remove the “proof” they have of their lies. I have a lot of evidence but cannot post publicly for fear that they will retaliate. I desperately need some sort of aid, I am nearing the point of giving up and don’t know what to do as I have no idea why someone I once called a friend would do this when I have done them no wrong. Facebook messages should be removable for privacy reasons, right?

I now know better than to use Messenger but it’s too late now and I desperately need to find a way to remove this chat thread.

Thank you so, so much.
