I am hoping a few people here can recommend gear for backpack camping couple.

My wife and I are trying to get into backpack hammock camping and hiking. We have pretty much all our gear sorted out, except the hammock.

What I am looking for is a two person, double layer hammock; I thinkpreferably a kit/system.

We live in the upper Midwest, so the double layer for an underquilt is important, as we would like to try and go out more than a couple times a year, so we will have chilly weather to contend with. She very, very, very much prefers to not try and sleep alone outside; so the two person aspect is also important. Lastly, a full kit or system with rain fly and all is not mandatory, but I personally would prefer to keep everything together in one bag, one system, etc. But if anyone knows of a good fly to get on the side that will fit, or a good way to break it into two bags (one for each of us to carry) then I’m all for getting mixed pieces that work!

Bonus points if the hammock has a second hanging layer for gear.

Together, we are about 400 pounds, so weight may be an issue? I don’t know, I’m very new to hammocks in general.

Edit for budget: sorry, I forgot to add budget. I would love to stay at less than $200. If there’s something that’s perfect that’s a bit higher though, that’s ok.

Any advice or pointers is greatly appreciated!! Thank you.
