I’m cruising this summer for the first time. Any tips/lifehacks that I should know about?

We didn’t bother with the fancy restaurant packages or the overpriced excursions. We had a great time with all the free amenities.

If I could have done one thing differently, I would have taken the “Free drinks at the bar” perk over any of the others. Even if you don’t drink alcohol, this covers everything else (except maybe water, depending on the fine print)

My partner says: Take some time to explore the ship alone. She says doing that was one of her favorite memories of the trip

Yep! Wonder around, get lost, poke your head in strange places. There’s so much to observe and learn! I’d never follow the tourist interary to the letter.

Same goes for being on shore. We got off and wandered the local Bahamian tourist rip offs, then found our way to a quiet beach. The locals were super cool, but of course they were non-stop trying to pry dollars away. Still, it wasn’t a tourist beach and it was great fun.

I only went on one cruise, and not looking to do so again anytime soon, but it was a great life experience.

(Remember, you’re on lemmy. We loathe cruises and you should die in a fire for even contemplating one.)
