Also, if you’re confused about terminology, an instance is basically the specific server you’re on. Since Lemmy (and other federated social media) is free and open-source, anyone can set up their own server with a unique URL (lemmy.blahaj.zone for this instance). Each instance then has its own communities, which are basically like subreddits. You’ll notice that some of the communities I linked are on other instances, though you can still subscribe to them from this one, since Lemmy is federated.
