    Shockwaves carry more force in water. The pressure-differential would collapse your lungs and possibly give you a brain hemorrhage.

      To the point that the actual submariner response to a hostile diver is one ping of active sonar. Which hits like an explosion.

        Which is why I got so pissed when I told my dad that active sonar was bad for the whales and he suggested that they just put their hands over their ears. Gosh Dad, you don’t understand anything!! Whales can’t put their hands over their lungs!!

          Whales can straight up kill you the same way. They don’t because they know to keep their voices down. Friggin’ magic, man.
