Original Title: LPT : Keep a few standard-sized plumbing stops at home. If a faucet, connector, or seal issue occurs when stores are closed, you can shut off the faulty supply and quickly restore the water supply to other areas of the house in the meantime.

A few years ago, obviously on a Saturday night of the Easter weekend my bathroom faucet started leaking quite a bit. I thought, “no problem, I’ll just shut the valve off under the sink”. That valve that didn’t move for about 20 years was just stuck. So all I could do is shut off the main pipe: No water in the kitchen, no water to flush the toilet. All DIY shops would be closed till the next Tuesday morning.

If I had a single of those stop ends I could have restored the water supply to the rest of the house.

Bonus LPT: Think of closing and opening valves at least every 6 months. But I know few do this. Including myself.
