As I’m sure many of you can imagine, I have a lot of devices in my collection (working and not working, as I sometimes need to test-fit prototypes of custom parts or mods). Heck, a few of my collection have long since been discontinued by this point (Indica vaporizer, Pax1, Grasshopper, VapeXhale Cloud+, Mistvape, etc)
Anyway, I’m looking to grab another portable. But I can’t keep up with all the new devices. I’m looking more at the popular budget to mid-priced devices. Thinking about grabbing an Xlux Roffu, although I’m open to suggestions.
Yes, I know S&B is working on releasing a new portable vaporizer in the near future but I’m not waiting for that to drop. (I already have both a crafty and a mighty in my collection lol).
It seems you want an electronic device, right? Besides ruffo, the avlp can work too, also if you’re not afraid of 510s, vapes like dreamwood glow, cosmic xtractor or iHeat510 (good luck getting one lol) will suprise you with their good performance and versatality .
Well, I mean I love butane powered devices. I just ordered a bunch of parts for my Vapcap including the new titanium tip they just released (it just looks too cool not to have in my collection haha). I also really miss my Lotus vaporizer, so I’ll likely scoop one up now that Vapman owns the rights to the design and is selling new copies of the Lotus.
I have a few 510’s in my collection and to be honest, I’m just not a 510 guy. I don’t have good batteries, I don’t know the software well enough, so I usually use them in pulse mode where I surge heat to the oven by fiddling with the heat button. I actually have too many 510 vapes in my collection and not enough use to justify keeping them. I have a brand new RBT SplinterZ v2 sitting in the box which I think I’m going to sell in the classifieds - I know lots of people really liked those.
Have you handled the Ruffo or AVLP? I’ve heard good things about both, but do you have any personal experience? How would they compare to other devices in your collection?
That’s fair. I wish I could let you try my glow setup with TCR ^^
And unfortunately no. I have (so do you lol) a v3p and I heard it uses the same heater as the ruffo, but they tuned it a bit more in the ruffo. I think I saw a comparison thread at FC tho.
And honestly, if you don’t fix on accurate temp, but usable temp control, you can take a 510 that doesn’t have a huge coil (like glow, stempod, musa etc and unlike the Z), turn the temp to 245C, and tune the TCR so the coil glow lightly/barely glows. Then turn the temp down to around 175-180C and start climing until you find your sweet range of temps.
Hahaha yeah that’s way too much effort for me - I’ve had a few friends bring their 510 setups, and they can be fun. But I also have handled many desktops and just because you can cook fast and cloud chase isn’t always a good thing - there is a finite amount of vapor one’s lungs can absorb at one time. Some even argue that exhaled clouds is wasted vapor
I personally am more into flavor chasing over anything else lol
Yeah I 100% agree with u, I usually temp step from pretty low temps myself and mostly don’t even reach the 220C zone, even when there is some vapor left to extract. Anyway, for each their own haha there are many good devices out there these days so anyone can use whatever fits them the best :). BTW my glow gives flavors that compete with my firefly2 flavors, so that’s something too ^^
Lol yeah I usually prefer temps below 200C most of the time. Dang I forgot about my original Firefly2, I should dig it out and give it another spin. My biggest complaint was the design of the vapor path - it was a PITA to keep clean enough for my OCD needs haha
Yeah you have to clean it every bowl or two, but alcohol wipes are so handy for it, so if you get a kit with a few of them ready you’re all set.
My biggest complain is the proprietary battery. A standard ones would’ve been so much better. Avlp nailed both of these aspects I guess ^^
