Hi all, I thought it would be fun to talk about what running events people have coming up in the final months of the year.

I’ve got a local 10k race (Wilne 10K) coming up this Sunday. I’ve bought some new Kinvara 14 to race in, as I think my Triumph 20 are a bit heavy for a race day. I’m not fast but I do enjoy the occasional event. I did this run in 52:41 last year which I was really happy with. If I can be around that again I’ll be chuffed, although I feel like I’m a bit slower than I was last year.

My other upcoming event is the Equinox 24 hour event around Belvoir Castle in the UK. It’s a 10k lap relay event. Doing it with a buddy and I’m really looking forward to it. It’s a beautiful course and the whole event has a great atmosphere. I did 4 laps last year, I’m hoping to slow down a little but do a couple more laps this year. The night time laps are the highlight, as I don’t often run in the pitch black with a headtorch.

I got some good advice once about running new distances. The first time you race it you might want to just focus on finishing the event, enjoyimg the course, and listening to your body rather than worrying about time. It’ll give you a baseline to work from and help you figure out if you even like the distance.
