We’ve updated how Remodulation works against the Borg. It’ll no longer be a device you have to equip, and you can earn and build special remodulators!
I have the shotgun, and it’s really cheap from the phoenix store for anyone that doesn’t. Unfortunately, I still get the “don’t forget to equip a frequency remodulator” whine from Seven on the Bozeman ground patrol.
The 10 or so seconds it takes to remodulate every 2-3 shots (feels like) makes the DPS loss feel worse than just stabbing things or throwing knives otherwise.
I missed the tommygun by mere days, and I’m still salty AF about that. And Cryptic’s decision to single toon lock it in a $150 awful bundle.
Thanks for posting, @nobodyspecial! (Yet again I was too slow to notice the post and get it here. Not that I have to, but still!)
For others joining the conversation, here’s the relevant excerpt:
Previously, remodulation required you to fetch a special remodulator device, and to equip this in a device slot. Now, basic remodulation is a built-in function: When the Borg start to adapt to your weapons, the option to remodulate will appear over your power tray. You no longer need a frequency remodulator item, and basic remodulators will be removed from your inventory automatically.
I’m cautiously optimistic about this. I always found the modulators cumbersome, opting instead for an expensive TR-116 so as not to have to deal with remodulation. (I do have one ground build on which the TR-116 is a DPS choice and not a convenience choice, but for the most part my toons with it have it because I don’t like remodulation.)
Seems like a good change actually.
