Seems good to get kids off the streets now, but feels like a bandaid.

What are the root causes of homelessness and how can they be quickly and effectively addressed?

We know about the big systematic causes like housing unaffordability and drug use and warm temeperate locations drawing homeless people, but I never see anybody talk about rapid fixes for those, only slow cumbersome fixes that are vulnerable to shifting of political and budgetary whims.

Remember that time we had a Great Depression and FDR started all those work programs and stuff? Maybe we need to do that
