In January 2024, Unity will introduce a new Unity Runtime Fee based on game installs. Prior to this, Unity subscription plans will add cloud-based asset storage, Unity DevOps tools, and AI at runtime at no additional cost.
I am fine spending more money on Unity, but there really have got to step up their game in terms of ensuring they are adding value to developers. They seem stagnant for years now, and while yes, they have added some things to their tools, it is far from enough to make me feel like they are a good business partner. They seem way to interested in just your money, versus how they can be the place you gladly spend money as they add so much value for you. I hope they eventually make this connection.
