Daily lurker here. Are you disabling community creations? It appears that this decision has been made hastily. According to this thread, the admins haven’t finalized their decision on this matter yet. In what way would this contribute to attracting more users if you are impeding active engagement?
Although !cafe may be the most bustling community for now, it doesn’t imply that users prefer to spend all their time there. Some of us would like to develop our own communities.
The like what crabby and cendawanita mentioned, we are temporarily disabling this due to security/vulnerability concerns with Lemmy.
We are currently investigating the issue to determine whether it is safe to enable community creations.
oh no this is just a temporary security step, following from lemmy.world getting hacked and infecting others via jscript. the other convo is still ongoing!

Second, thanks for your concern, this isn’t permanent, there’s a vulnerability issue going on and i’m acting according to our finding. Rest assure it will be re-enable soon, but for now we’ll continue to monitor the situation.
