Weeks ago, there was fiery coverage of a missile strike on a Ukrainian market that Russia had callously carried out against the Ukrainian people. Independent commentators reviewing the footage at the time believed the missile actually came from Ukraine. Lo and behold, the claim that this missile was Russian has been walked back: Ukraine actually did this to her own people. It is thought that this civilian attack was carried out to bolster support for Ukraine during Blinken’s visit. Truly disgusting if that is true, and a tragedy either way.
What do you see when you do this:
LemmyGrad Link to Lemmy.ML post: https://lemmygrad.ml/post/1898332
Lemmy.ML post: https://lemmy.ml/post/5148488
It looks like these are the exact same post but through lemmygrad I only see 4 comments and through lemmy.ml I see all 10
Seeing 5 comments via the grad link and 11 via lemmy.ml one. Another thing that’s possible is that some comments are from instances that federate with lemmy.ml but don’t federate with us?
That’s WILD. So the same post can have comments we cannot see from the grad if the posters come from instances that defederated us, even if the post itself originated from an instance that federates with us?
Calling @[email protected] Is this a bug or is this expected behavior?
https://lemmygrad.ml/u/[email protected]
They’re banned so the comments don’t get federated.
Ah forgot about the case of banning from our end. What does happen when server A bans server C, but both federate with server B? Do the comments propagate from A to C via B?
Yup, there’s infinite versions on any federated server with different comments.
Check some 'grad posts through .world sometime. There’s always a few banned chuds that think they’re dunking on us, but they’re actually banned.
I love how we live rent free in their heads.
that’s actually really funny, we’re just ghosting chuds and shitlibs on the daily.
The instance where the community lives does the boosting / pushing. So no, their comments won’t get pushed elsewhere.
ok yeah, makes sense
I’m apparently banned on world but sometimes they comment on lemmygrad communities. If I reply to them, will my child comment be pushed to other instances?
Yes it will. Lemmygrad will still push your comment elsewhere, just not to lemmy.world.
