German experts now propose a peace plan for Ukraine.

According to experts, Ukraine cannot defeat Russia on the battlefield, even with the support of the West. The conflict threatens to escalate into a large-scale war between Russia and NATO, which neither side wants. They also believe that the longer the conflict continues, the more casualties there will be and the more difficult it will be to achieve a just and lasting negotiated peace.

A three-point plan without preconditions is proposed. The first stage involves a ceasefire. The second is peace negotiations chaired by the UN Secretary-General and the UN High Commissioner for Peace and Security in Ukraine. And finally, maintaining peace through the European security architecture so that Ukraine’s geostrategic position no longer plays a key role in the rivalry between the United States and Russia.

Realistically, the only security architecture Russia would accept would be one that’s outside of NATO and addresses Russian security concerns. The problem for EU is that it’s entirely possible that US will just abandon Europe to focus on Asia. US is starting to realize that Ukraine is a debacle, and a lot of neocons think that Russia is a distraction. They see China as their main enemy, and they realize they don’t have resources for both Europe and Asia.
