There’s no difference between the light reflected off a page or emitted from a screen. It’s all photons stimulating cells in your eyes. Your eyes are fucked up because you’re getting older.

Paper vs display at same intensity and colour, sure. But there’s other differences like actual brightness, contrast ratios, colour temperature, etc. which can have subtle effects. I believe one of the biggest issues in terms of eye strain is when you have a display that’s brighter than the surrounding area, and lower contrast/resolution. I feel like the benefit of dark mode is less about the total light emitted, but when the brightness is from the text instead of the blank area around the text it’s more readable because you’re not trying to read through the glare of the background.

Wow. I really cannot understand people who can’t even take one fucking second to learn how fucking light works. Let me know how “photons stimulating cells in your eyes” works when you fucking stare at the sun vs. it illuminating something. Monitors aren’t nearly as bright and damaging as the sun, but they DO EMIT LIGHT JUST LIKE THE SUN RATHER THAN ILLUMINATING A SURFACE LIKE A FUCKING PIECE OF PAPER WHICH IS COMPLETELY FUCKING DIFFERENT.

If people can’t understand basic goddamn science, why do you even try to make any sort of argument? Be silent and let adults talk. What’s worse is that people just like you fucking upvoted you. What the goddamn motherfucking absolute HELL is wrong with people? I swear, this has to be a fucking simulation or a bad dream. The world cannot be this fucking dumb.
