I was a “socialist” the moment I knew it was a term that existed, but only became a marxist leninist when I saw endless amounts of police brutality and realised how necessary it is to have a structured political organisation to actually bring about change. Realising it is possible to have a concise course of action towards liberation, and that so many have done so in the past with dramatic improvements to life as a result has given me more hope than anything else I can think of. It is haunting to think of ever turning against the struggle as some people unfortunately have done with age. But I do not think it is because they became “wiser”, and I do not see myself becoming right wing any time soon. Especially as the brutality of the imperialists becomes more pronounced.
