Last night, I had not one but two dreams in a row that I swear I had already had years ago.

1: I was starring in a Criss Angel film as Criss Angel himself and doing some act high up in the air. I resemble Criss Angel zero percent, nor can I achieve his mannerisms.

2: I was lost in a vast auditorium setting while a show was going on. I had gotten up to do something, and when I went to find my seat again, I lost my way and kept walking around aimlessly.

Yes. Many years ago I had this recurring dream of hiking around a huge autumnal mountain. I never saw any people. Just me alone walking around and peacefully enjoying nature. Though now that I think about it, it felt as if i was searching for something…

Recently my recurring dream is of me visiting a little thrift shop that is located in the town near my childhood home. This place randomly inserts itself into any other dream on occasion. Generally if a dream involves travel with a vehicle, I’m somewhat more likely to end up at the Thrift Shop. It isn’t a real location by any means, but feels like a place I’ve always known somehow. I go in and browse through the nick nacks and whatnot but never buy anything. The layout is never the same as the last visit. Sometimes the shelves are more maze like. Other times the shelves really only line the outer walls and there’s more empty space. The interior feels like it could’ve been somebody’s home at some point. Definitely not a sterilized corporate space.

Behind the register is a doorway. It’s always at least slightly ajar if not completely open. Most times thinking about going in there gives off a feeling that I’m not allowed to do so. I’ve gone in there maybe just twice. One time it was a pitch dark public restroom. I felt an encroaching terror as I wandered blindly before the dream ended. From my most recent visit, I was given permission to go through the strange doorway. I could see a stairway going down that took me to like an early 2000s condo/loft type area with white walls and off-white flooring that split off into different rooms of a mostly empty home. One such room had a window viewing an empty shopping mall bathed in blueish light. I stared out at it wistfully for a while. I carried on exploring but nothing eventful occurred after this.

I don’t really know what it means, but I find comfort in returning to a familiar place in the midst of my often chaotic and nonsensical dreamscapes. I’ve visited the Thrift Shop maybe about five or six times now over the course of 1.5 years I want to say. It’s always a pleasant surprise to be back there and I’m looking forward to my next visit.
