Apps would likely access the URL directly or use the imgur API.
Imgur is a little weird because even though that link is a .gifv, it serving an entire HTML page with all sorts of metadata and JavaScript. Open it in your browser and view source.
Edit: I also want to add that I’ve used at least half a dozen apps and I’ve seen a wide variety of different behaviors relating to videos and gifs, particularly when they have audio like this one.
I’ll just keep doing what I’ve been doing. I wasn’t sure if I was doing something wrong or what. Seems like not every part of Lemmy is at the same relative stage of development. I enjoy watching this stuff grow. In just the short time I’ve been here, it feels like it’s progressed a lot and it’s neat to be here for it, road bumps and all.
