1’: We’re off!
1’: Decordova-Reid fires one in the first fifteen seconds but it goes well wide.
2’: SAVE! Leno sticks out a leg and blocks Son! Being pulled back for a free kick for a foul in the buildup.
7’: Van de Ven’s sidefoot volley goes over the bar from eight yards out.
8’: Penalty for Spurs??? Big decision for the ref here… it’s outside the box! Just a free kick. Antonee Robinson got lucky there.
12’: SAVE! Palhinha doesn’t even jump and thumps a scary header towards goal, but Vicario just gets his hand behind it.
27’: Højbjerg lets one fly down the middle, right at the keeper for a comfortable save.
30’: Richarlison goes for the bottom corner from outside the box, a decent counter but it ends with the shot going wide.
34’: Maddison whips a shot towards the far side, doesn’t have the power to beat Leno.
35’: Pierre-Emile Højbjerg goes into the book for a late challenge on Willian he couldn’t pull out of in time
36’: GOAL TOTTENHAM!! Bassey fires a bad pass in the back that’s picked up by Spurs! They get it to Son Heung-Min who skips past a couple defenders and fires a shot that Leno is never getting to.
40’: Spurs somehow don’t score a second. A couple desperate blocks leaves them with only a corner even though they seemingly had an open net right in front of goal.
45+1’: Højbjerg goes down after a collision with Bassey, Spurs wants a penalty, none of the officials agree.
HT Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 Fulham Spurs wrecking Fulham right now, probably should be up by more.
46’: Fulham double sub: Raúl Jiménez and Alex Iwobi on for Carlos Vinícius and Andreas Pereira
46’: We’re back!
52’: Richarlison gets a cross from Son and puts it wayyyyyyy over the net.
54’: GOAL TOTTENHAM!! Son decides to lay it over for James Maddison who rushes forward and puts it into the far side! Bassey playing everyone onside.
56’: Tottenham substitution: Emerson Royal on for Destiny Udogie
62’: Tottenham substitution: Oliver Skipp on for Pape Matar Sarr
62’: Fulham substitution: Harry Wilson on for Bobby Decordova-Reid
72’: Fulham substitution: Harrison Reed on for Saša Lukić
81’: Tottenham triple sub: Brennan Johnson, Giovani Lo Celso and Alejo Véliz on for Richarlison, Son Heung-Min and James Maddison
82’: Fulham substitution: Tom Cairney on for João Palhinha
84’: SAVE!! Raúl Jiménez stabs a shot at goal but Vicario keeps it out! Vicario has had nothing to do but that woke him up!
87’: SAVE! Cairney’s shot is caught by the keeper, probably going a bit wide of the near post anyway.
FT Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 Fulham Spurs still top of the table. Hmmmm…
Maddison is the smartest English footballer
High volume #8 that can drop deep, be effective in all phases of the game and is a sexy looking dude on top. My favourite player in the PL
I said it in the match thread, Maddison is different gravy to your usual English 10. He looks like he has little more edge and style to him. I hope southgate keeps southgating him out of the team.
To be fair, he hasn’t played that well for England so far and Bellingham is better in that position. Maddison plays only if Bellingham can’t, that’s just how it is
Don’t get me wrong, I definitely rate Madders, and as an England fan having two world class options for the no.10 spot is pretty sweet
He’s FARt too good to leave him out, you have to adapt the team to fit them both in the 11.
You don’t even have to adapt too hard. Declan Rice is a quality player, gooner cunt or no. A central midfield of Rice-Bellingham-Maddison is up there for the best in the world.
Agree, that 3 is insane.
How is Kalvin for England?
He’s become unplayable at City.
He’s low energy for city because he basically sleeps on the bench.
Son has lot more freedom and opportunity now Kane is gone.
This was from 3 seasons ago but Son’s stats when Kane wasn’t playing were on par with the other golden boot winners
The shackles from Conte are off too.
Ahh, the Benzema special.
I had a sneaking suspicion that Kane leaving would eventually improve the squad but fuck me I wasnt expecting this
The bar is so, so high for taking 30 goals out of a team and improving it.
Well when you basically quadruple the number of shots you take as a team, that’s one way to make that gap up.
The more important thing is just 8 goals conceded.
That’s just from getting rid of llenglet
And Dier and Sanchez and Lloris
Sanchez is sad. I thought he looked so promising when Ajax played against United in the Europa finals. Never evolved.
Kane leaving didn’t improve this squad. The addition of Maddison and Mickey have been enormous. The proper use of Bissoumaand just …Ange-ball improved the squad.
The link-up between Kane, Son and Maddison would be unstoppable. Kane would be running riot in this team. It’s a real shame that he left.
We need World Cup Richarlison back
I haven’t watched Tottenham live other than against Liverpool so honest, but possibly stupid, question…would Kane improve this team if all else roster & manager-wise was the same, or are they now fundamentally playing differently in a way where he couldn’t fit in and be this good?
Seems so unlikely that he would leave and they would immediately get way better, but that seems to be what is happening.
The truthful answer is he’d get 40 goals and 20 assists. I’m not kidding. I’ve seen the chances we are creating and they are ridiculous for someone who converts half chances and pings the ball like KDB. Kane, Maddison and Son in the same team is lights out for the opposition
Just fucking lol.
I mean just take every moment you’ve seen Richarlison this season and imagine Kane in those positions. The amount of damage that he would be able to do
He has never covered ground like Richarlison does though so he wouldn’t be in those positions.
If anything he’d be taking up the positions that Maddison did
Sure. But those numbers are absolutely ridiculous.
They are, but he got 30 in a team that genuinely could not play football. Still have no fucking idea how
So he’d break/reach all records, both goals and assists, and you know that after 9 rounds. Ridiculous.
Look at what Kane was able to do in a team that had no ability to create anything, he basically just snuck in a half chance every game, it was ridiculous. Him with service, with competent players around him, the amount he’d worry defenders and open up space for other players, it’s night and day
It’s cruel irony that he left just as we finally stopped the negative football disaster streak we were on
I love Kane, but Ange ball demands a high pressing fast and efficient striker. Kane would have struggled to press high like Son did in this game. If you look at today’s game Son run in a way that cut off the left side of the field forcing GK to only pass to the right, and then everyone else presses the right leading to the turnovers and the 2 goals. It is no coincidence that Son leads the league in sprinting distances. Look at Burnley game where Son had 52 presses leading to 12 turnovers, one of them resulting in Madder’s goal just like the second goal today. Kane is a high volume striker, relatively slow. Son is a better fit for Ange ball
It’s hard to imagine how arguably the world’s best striker wouldn’t improve Spurs. But the problem would be that Sonny would have to play on the left (where Richarlison is playing now and doing quite well). He began there at the beginning of the season and while he was decent, he’s clearly a bit wasted in that spot. Meanwhile, he’s thriving in the central role now and many have said he’s the ideal Angeball striker.
Switching Richie to the left is also as important move as switching Sonny to the 9. Richie on the left means extra pressing machine. It’s also his position at Everton, where he play his best, playing off DCL.
He doesn’t need to be the main man. He can play a Firmino position from the left. Extra pressing, less play making but still as goos nonetheless.
With Kane, you have to ask Son to cover more ground and less playmaking/goalscoring.
Output could be the same but the implementation is indeed wilk be different.
I get that, but remember just how well Kane and Son combined for 2 seasons in a row, add a proper creative midfielder like Maddison to that- insane
He’s world class at scoring and passing but there’s one dimensionalness to his playstyle. Whenever he drops deep to linkup/give passes, he’s removed from the play and comes into the box late unlike Son who would sprint to stretch the defense. We might still get same results with him but it won’t look like the high octane Ange ball we are seeing now for sure. So unlike the other answers you got, there’s no guarantee. Personally I think he will make us worse for the reason above, plus we won’t feel like a family who play 120% for their brothers like we do now. Instead it’ll be a toxic environment of 10 players trying to please someone who keeps threatening to leave every year
He only did this because every manager since Poch refused to purchase a creative midfielder. He literally added a new dimension to his game to cope with it.
He also does it in the NT, it’s become a bad habit of his. Actually I’m fine with him dropping deep but the fact is after he gives the pass he doesn’t sprint back to original position. He’d alter Ange ball
Guess there’s no proper AM there either :/
He would, he’s a top 3 striker in the world, no side wouldn’t want him imo
maddison is so good…
Did maddison news about he being close to arsenal last season is true or just rumour?
Arsenal missed this talent is so unfortunate
Not sure about that, they got Ordegaard which is almost the same position
We have Odegaard to be honest. Check his stats last season.
Damn that’s crazy you should see Maddison’s this season
And what’s about this season?
He would be the perfect replacement for Xhaka
Yeah imagine Maddison, famous for his perfect injury record, getting clattered week in week out from Central midfield…
Doubt there was much in that. They got Odegaard, and Arteta used to rate Smith Rowe highly before his injuries last season. Now they added Havertz too so don’t think it was ever an option.
Madder and Son fit for CP. That’s the biggest result from this match
Madder and Son fit for CP.
FBI OPEN UP!
Mate, say Palace
Overreaction FC out in full force
Spurs are cooking this season!
Van de Ven and Maddison, what great signings.
Googly elmo as well. What a man he is
Googly elmo I’m wheezing
yay
The last 20 minuts were painful to watch, so much sloppiness in everything. Terribly clear most of those players either don’t play alot or are returning from injuries.
weak bench
Don’t think so, Lo Celso can be a brilliant player, Johnson is very talented, Skipp was great before his injury (and is the 2nd, maybe third off the bench there, as Hoj would be on the bench too alongside Bentancur), Veliz is supposedly very talented, Dier can be shit but can also be damn good, Royal is defensively very solid…
We’ve got decent depth but they all need to fit in the team better than right now. I’ll give it time.
They’re good players, but GLC and Johnson have both barely played this season and just came back from injuries, while Veliz have barely played PL football at all. Putting all three at once was a bit too much, but they should all be good enough when they’re up to speed and get some minutes.
Foot well and truly off the gas. Got to be fit enough for the stupid friday fixture.
Honestly Ange’s game management is really good, you can almost tell the point where he’s like “we need these lads for next week”
When next week is this week.
Can’t help seeing the other way; only 2-0 up and we bring on a ton of subs, play the Snooze Patrol greatest hits and really manage to keep them at arm’s length. Being that casual and vaguely competent is very pleasing
I’d also see it this way if we really managed to keep them at arm’s length. If they had a competent striker it could easily be more dangerous. It’s good our bench is getting some minutes, they clearly need them.
Agreed, absolutely nothing came off. Entire intensity of the game was gone, although tbf, we were 2-0 up
Unlucky from Fulham to not score, just lacked that edge tonight. Will be their main issue this year I think
Some superb saves from Vicario tbf. Beautiful finish from Son and Madison
Great atmosphere in the stadium as well. Outside of YNWA, hearing a crowd belt out “when the Spurs go marching in” always makes my hair stand up. One of my favs as a neutral
Yeah its been our problem all season - we are not a bad side on the whole but we have next to no cutting edge though, and us not signing a replacement for Mitrovic is why we won’t be competitive in these games and are struggling to score atm. Hopefully in January we can get someone in who’s a bit more dynamic than the Vinicius/Jimbo combination that toils but is ultimately not very threatening.
“If Kane goes, Spurs will be in the bottom half, guaranteed” HAHAHAHAHA FUCK YOU PAUL MERSON.
Fucking sham of a Pundit stealing a fucking living.
I mean if you lot kept Conte and sold Kane bottom half was definately doable.
Ahh yes, the season predictions included conte staying… when he left in late march? And kane didnt leave until a week before the season?
“Arsenal will dominate Spurs” hahaha and then he tried to walk it back saying he didn’t like the starting lineup.
Paul Merson is the worst kind of pundit, Souness was the same. Just stroll in with their wheelbarrow full of painfully outdated tropes, and mindlessly blurt out the first thought that has managed to struggle its way through the vast depths of stupidity that flood their minds.
Souness is liquid gold on RTE in Ireland, but you can get away with coming on smashed drunk and still have a pundit’s seat the following week there (Eamon Dunphy). I remember Souness’ first appearance on Irish telly, he didn’t know wtf was going on for the first 15 minutes, after the ad break he was laying into every cunt. Golden age of Irish football coverage.

Dunphy possibly pissed on a decent rant https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EqjQSk1PQ4o
Honestly when I lived in South East Asia I used videos like this to remind me of the pub back home lol
9 games into the Ange Postecoglu era, it is absolutely RIDICULOUS how quickly he’s made us such a good footballing side
We look okay better football than Arsenal this season, thought it would be a while before I ever got to say that
Where has hugo lloris been?
I think Vicario said last week he’s been helping him train and develop, and there’s few goalies in the world who you’d rather have training you than a World Cup winning captain. I’d love for Lloris to stay as a goalkeeping coach here. He’s a club legend as far as I’m concerned.
Third choice now. He was allowed to leave on a free this summer but couldn’t find a club. Contract ends in the summer.
