Not sure how reliable the source is but “big if true”. Would be sad to see him go but we better get used to our staff being poached / leaving to upscale their career.
I really wouldn’t touch that job if I were him. That club is in complete chaos, and there’s no sign of that changing
Would hate to lose him, but I also want him to go on and be successful in his own right. Definitely would be watching more Ajax matches with him at the helm.
I’d be sad to see him go but he deserves this chance and I’d wish him well for the future.

According to recent reports, Ajax are looking to appoint Arsenal assistant manager Albert Stuivenberg as their new head coach, after sacking Maurice Steijn on Monday.
The Dutch giants currently sit second from bottom and in the relegation zone in the Eredivisie so far this season, having only won one game in the first seven. The side from Amsterdam have been on an awful run of form so there’s no surprise they’re looking for a new manager this early on in the season.
Ajax had initially set their sights on Erik ten Hag’s assistant manager, Mitchell van der Gaag, but he has no intention of leaving Manchester United. After missing out on him, it appears Albert Stuivenberg is their new number one target.
According to Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad, Ajax believe Mikel Arteta’s No. 2 can implement an attacking style of play and revive the club’s fortunes, with Ajax a whopping 22 points off of league leaders PSV.

Albert Stuivenberg has spent time at Manchester United and the Wales national team as assistant manager, as well as taking charge of Belgian side Genk for a year.
In 2019, the 53-year-old moved to Arsenal to become assistant to the newly appointed Mikel Arteta and has remained by his side ever since.
It’s currently unclear whether Stuivenberg would be interested in a return to management or even if Arsenal would let him speak to Ajax considering how important he is to Mikel Arteta’s coaching staff.
Arsenal have a great chance of winning their first league title in over 20 years this season and it can be certain that Arteta will not want to lose a key member of his coaching staff in the middle of the season.
wait. Ajax is at the bottom of the league? wtf??
So is Lyon. Crazy world we live in
And Schalke are in the bottom 3 of the Bundesliga 2, they look proper fucked!
AFCAMDEN tweeted this yesterday:
Would make sense if he has agreed to move on.
Ajax are a total mess right now. Taking that job on would be such a massive gamble and potential career suicide. Very risky
Don’t think it’s career suicide at all. It’s a big club - if he doesn’t succeed it gets put down to the job being too big for him, too soon, and he should be coaching lower down and gaining experience.
Nah - it’s easier to make a positive difference than maintain a high level. Something broken where you feel you can turn it around is actually exactly what you want - there is a question of being set up success obviously but generally a struggling big club is quite attractive
Never a career suicide to get a foot in the door for his first manager job at a massive club. He’d be stupid to turn it down. An opportunity to manage his first team at a club like Ajax doesn’t come often
I think I’ve seen this movie before back in 2019… (¬.¬)
He just needs to survive relegation this season and he’ll be safe. I don’t think much else would be expected and if they wanted more, they’d bring in a more established coach.
It’s a great opportunity to show what you can do plus I’d lowkey love an unofficial Ajax feeder agreement.
It’s not career suicide. If he fails, he goes back to being a number 2, just like he is now. Having managerial experience is always a bonus for someone considered for a number 2 job.
It’s not his first HM gig so don’t think it’s career suicide.
Or, you’re taking a massive job at quite literally it’s lowest EVER ebb. In this context, the optics of incremental improvement can be incredibly impressive
Not sure that the optics of incremental improvement matter when next season they expect to win the league, shit they might still expect to win the league THIS season.
Poisoned chalice by every single metric, especially with how badly that club is run.
I mean what result will keep the new manager in the job? A reasonable person might say mid table, but I’ll bet Ajax think anything other than top 2 or 3 at worst is going to require another change.
They can have his other Airpod and that’s all
They’d probably win the league tbh
Why are ajax so shit now? Bleeding too much talent these past few years?
Also they can do one. Can’t be poaching our staff like this
Overmars hard carried their recruitment under EtH then losing EtH as well was also a big loss for them.
Van der Sar was an okay DOF whilst not the best but they also downgraded on him as well after he fell ill. Then Sven Mislintat got sacked for being a dodgy fucker recently too.
The entire structure that made Ajax good fell apart. Don’t think a new manager will change much.
But a good manager is the start they need. They have a lot of new players and are at rock bottom. I’d love to see Albert stay but he couldn’t do worse at Ajax than their recent managers even if he tried.
Depends if you get the right one.
You can end up with an Emery who needs the structure above him to be sorted to get results. Or Arteta would is an integral part of the structure.
Overmars hard carried their incredible recruitment under EtH. Shame he ended up being a sex pest because he was looking like one of the best DOF in Europe at one point.
They really did not want to let him go lmao even after this
Carlos stock just increased
He’s the one I would hate to see leave. I feel like he has a massive future in club football, either with arsenal or another team
This would be a huge loss
I predicted this happening 6 months ago. Hopefully my other predictions comes true as well.
(Its my old account i just forgot the password lol)
Arteta to bring in big Sam as his assistant
Big Sam and Sammy Lee back again 🤫
Makes us even more unpredictable when you cannot see who’s on the bench due to Large Samuel being in the way.
If true, I believe Airpod Albert will leave. Arsenal won’t stand in his way. It’s a huge opportunity for Albert, plus I think we have a good relation with Ajax as well.
wonder who takes his place, my money would be on cuesta or jover
Wilshere
he was approached by a MLS team, think he’ll have a go at that
I hope we will have a proper replacement
