Take them to a specific battery recycling center. If they short especially wet they can self ignite and very few things can stop it , the fumes are very deadly . Treat like nuclear waste it’s that bad.
Always check oil engine off, flat ground, wipe clean 4 times to get a true reading . Don’t overfill it, that will cause it to make it leak . Plus the extra oil will fight the crank and over oil the pistons and probably smoke a bunch utill it burns off. All that is bad, drain it and refill only the right amount.

The cracking at the belt line is just asking for a catastrophic blow out. Get the new ones.
