  • I’m just fighting back against the pharma ads that keep coming out of this community. Regular human activity and thought process don’t justify you to try a bunch of different hardcore drugs. Your way of doing mental math doesn’t give you disability status. Overthinking adult responsibilities doesn’t mean you’re different minded. If you think you have ADHD then I welcome you and hope you get the care you need to adjust and live happily, but don’t show weakness to these people: they smell blood.

  • It’s even more than just “accepting everything as true” the machines have no concept of true. The machine doesn’t think. It’s a combination of three processes: prediction algorithm for the next word, algorithm that compares grammar and sentence structure parity, and at least one algorithm to help police the other two for problematic statements.

Clearly the problem is with that last step, but the solution would be a human or a general intelligience, meaning the current models in use will never progress beyond this point.

  • Might work for some countries, but the problem is that schools in the USA completely lack centralization: each school district is its own separate governing body. Jason was taught that Pilgrims to America were persecuted Christians seeking adventure and made treaties with Natives, while Derek was taught about socioeconomic nuances of 17th-19th Europe leading to incentivized settlements particularly attractive to hardcore religious extremists who then waged relentless war on the Native Americans.

There are no Universal Lies that everybody was taught, except for Dark Matter.

  • It doesn’t seem like such a large gap or grey area to me. You can tell a woman “Nice T-Shirt” and that is fine but “Nice Tits” is not fine, it’s a pretty clear division to me. What could the Doc say that would qualify him as the monster people are calling him but also not illegal?

They attempted to not pay out his contract btw. He had to sue them to get that, and they payed it out. If they had evidence of such behavior from him then I’m sure courts would agree that his own actions destroying his own public image would have been more than enough reason to cancel the contract.
