r/Nerf refugee. The artist formerly known as Hardly_Ideal. What’s all this about, anyway?
Everything Herbert said, plus my own two cents:
For better or worse, I tend to angle the blasters across the whole frame. I guess I’m trying to get it as large as I can unless I’m trying to stage something differently.
That was my guess, too. Too bulky, too heavy, too much stuff for too little gain.
All that said, I’d get a good giggle if someone actually tried it.
To borrow from a poet: if stuffing markers into Nerf blasters is wrong, I will face God and walk backwards into Hell
ETA: but seriously, I like how you can still see the colors from the front
That is a wonderful heap of old school cool right there
Okay, I think I got it. Because the stupid thing spins around when you try drilling from the front, I had to drill through the plunger tube. Thought I was going to shoot through the back of the barrel for a minute.
Now not only does it work, but it kinda takes off now. I don’t own a chronograph, so I just go by the Whoa Test, i.e. I shoot it and go “whoa, that looks fast!”
I reposted over on Nerfhaven after Reddit went dark. Long story short: I got a water blaster from Five Below, drilled off the tip, and found it makes a good no-fuss HAMP with modular barrels.
Then I found out I could strap it to the side of my longbow as a cheap replica Airow Gun. Not as good as the real deal, but good enough for me. An “eh-row,” if you will.
THEN I found out today that it has some much oomph behind it, I can just use a large pipe and tissue paper wadding to shoot almost anything that fits, and here we are.
I don’t think there’s any debris. A little bit of air restrictor I can’t quite get out, but it’s shoved out of the way just by putting a dart in. I added some silicone grease for good measure, so it’s all lubed up. And the sealing ring is stock, which worked fine before.
Hey, I’d be happy to have one nowadays!
