Appreciate the effort! I didn’t realize it would be as high as 70%!
Very true. Also, a new federal policy is now in place and requires any research funded even in part by federal money be open access. As a result we should see much more high quality research becoming open access (already has begun). Only downside is research labs like mine have to use more money to publish to these journals because open access costs more for the authors. Hopefully this system gets reformed during my lifetime.
But yes, please just email the authors! Works most of the time and I think it’s fun.
Ahh that makes a lot of sense. I also wonder if the soy subsidy directly affects soymilk/human products or if it’s mostly for animal feed?
My favorite thing is being charged extra for soy milk despite it being way less resource intensive and having a similar nutritional profile.
Good clarification. I appreciate you sharing that, it has definitely changed my perspective. It’s nice to have an objective study like that. I hope we can break free from this control in my lifetime.
I singlehandedly doorknocked thousands of houses, explicitly convinced dozens of people to find better news sources and support progressive candidates in primaries and general elections, and helped elect an attorney general who I genuinely trust (most relevant to this discussion; he is a close ally of Bernie Sanders). A lot more productive than complaining anonymously online like so many do on Lemmy and Reddit and other social media.
Lol fair cheers
