I am still hoping it will hit 10% market share within my life time. I remember when it was predicted to hit that in 2010, obviously it didn’t happen*. Of course for me personally, the year of the Linux Desktop was 2007 when I was finally able to use it as my main OS at home, I tried it before many times since 2003.
* not counting systems that use the Linux kernel but aren’t considered a traditional GNU+Linux desktop.
Wow, some industry lobbyists got government funding, amazing.
Not just in the US, China too is building nuclear reactors faster than any other country
Global fossil fuel subsidies are at $7 trillion, so I guess those are really relevant to our future as well!
No of course not. The subsidies at this point at a crime against humanity.
I don’t want developing countries to waste their money on nuclear power when they can get much more cost effective renewables.
If the renewables are cost effective and provide stable power then I too want them to be priority -near zero risks-, but more importantly industry and business will seek them on their own. I just hold that nuclear power should be part of the mix. Take the UAE for example it is investing in both nuclear and solar.
who actively participated in planning the attack at a state level
None of this is true. He was an outlaw in Saudi Arabia and left it in the 1990s and never returned. The US though was still working with Alqaeda in Central Asia before 9/11/2001.
Things remained the same for the past 23 years
More genocide apologia and bad history. We are clearly on different teams.
I’m not sure what’s the end goal of denying the genocide or giving the excuse that Israel is a geopolitical ally. Am I supposed to say “oh that makes the genocide okay, I will vote for Biden”? It is just more cruelty and dehumanization.
Such persuasion. Much eloquence.
Are you talking about First Past the Post and Winner Take All?
I’m still not voting for the lesser evil. I think we are overdue to seriously consider a 3rd party, instead of choosing between two flavours of genocide.
You realize that this doesn’t affect citizens, which Muslim Americans are and most Arab Americans are either Christian or not very religious. Otherwise the same kind of abuse will continue as under Biden and since 9/11/2001 and no one will notice or care.
Plus what Trump is suggesting is more harmful to the US than to Arab or Muslim Americans, the US missing out on “Hamas sympathizing students” i.e. most of the world, means that US universities are missing out on revenue. US universities are already struggling because of the decline in number of foreign students.
Yes. Believe it or not, Arab Americans exist. Some are more rooted in the US, others are one foot here and one foot there. Some are Christian and conservative, others are secular and progressive. All heart broken by Biden.
Are you not familiar with the United States since forever.
To be completely honest I didn’t expect the US to stand by Israel despite a genocide. I didn’t expect the US to enable it, certainly not under a Democratic administration. Most definitely not right after they criticized Russia for its invasion of Ukraine. I didn’t expect this sheer amount of hypocrisy and dehumanization of the Palestinians by the Democratic Party. Just listen to John Kirby talk about both.
How do you feel about trump making Jerusalem the capital?
None issue. The Arab Peace Initiative from 2002 specifies East Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine. Under a 2-state solution, Israel could have had West Jerusalem as a capital. To be clear, I once supported a 2-state solution now I oppose Israel entirely.
Trump will wipe Arabs off the map and complete Israeli takeover of the lands.
Biden is doing it now, why else would the US veto multiple ceasefires in the UN? The Biden administration also tried persuading Arab countries to accept the 2.5 million Gazans to help Israel achieve its ethnic cleansing goals. I personally don’t expect either party to be successful in achieving this, and if the US government is stupid, it will get itself in another losing war in the Middle East. At which point with allies like Israel who needs enemies?
No. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.
Good thing I never voted for Trump. I voted for Biden despite everything I knew about him because some people promised to push him left. Not only Biden hasn’t undone the evils Trump did but he is competing with him on who is the bigger Zionist.
All the people who have repeated that Biden did a lot of character development and he is no longer the racist guy he was, were either themselves misled or intentionally trying to mislead. He’s the same person who was eager to kill women and children in 1982:
“Begin said he was shocked at how passionately Biden supported Israel’s invasion when Biden “said he would go even further than Israel, adding that he’d forcefully fend off anyone who sought to invade his country, even if that meant killing women or children.”
https://theintercept.com/2021/04/27/biden-israeli-invasion-lebanon/
He also slashed funding to the UN agency supporting Palestinian refugees
The same thing Biden is doing right now https://www.npr.org/2024/02/18/1232301965/the-u-s-is-barring-funding-to-unrwa-the-only-international-organization-aiding-g and this defunding is based on false allegations https://www.npr.org/2024/04/23/1246613547/unrwa-israel-hamas-gaza-war
The Biden administration reversed this policy in February
Yet the settlements are expanding and the US sent more aid than ever to Israel. Until the US conditions aid on the dismantling of illegal settlements in the West Bank and the return of the Golan to Syria, it is all for show.
No, but in 2020 I didn’t vote for Trump. Why did I get a genocide?
It is insulting to suggest that this is why people won’t vote for Butcher Biden. Then liberals wonder why Arab and Muslim Americans are disgusted not just by Biden but also by the Democratic base that enables the dehumanization of Palestinians.
To suggest that our opposition is merely over “stutter” or “dementia” implies that you don’t see Palestinians as people or that their genocide as a valid concern.
nuclear power isn’t relevant anymore.
that’s not true. you just don’t want developing countries to have nuclear power.
You thought wrong, in the past the relationship was more complicated than hate. The US still had a lot of appeal and sometimes even looked up to in terms of institutions, rule of law, high literacy, advanced economy and so on. It didn’t happen overnight, the sanctions of Iraq in the 1990s and the invasion in 2003 was the start, the genocide in Gaza is the last straw, at least for the masses.
Both options are the same. Biden did everything Trump would have done. Biden could have ended it months ago. You thought we would just forget all the ceasefire resolutions the US vetoed? Or how about stopping funding the UNRWA?
Nothing changes for Palestine Biden or Trump, just the rhetoric. Did Biden reverse Trump’s decision to move the embassy to Jerusalem? Half the Democrats cheered Trump on when he did it!
tl:dr; both are Zionists and disgust me, both will do exactly what is being done now to Palestinians, no difference.
Stallman warned us, we didn’t listen.
I’m glad to see BadVista still up https://badvista.fsf.org/blog/view/?set_language=en
Do they use the BSD userland instead? Interesting…
Perhaps the definition isn’t good enough or accurate. What would you call a system that perhaps uses Darwin kernel or Hurd plus GNU user land, or any combo of.
