Most of the time, the penalty offence doesn’t actually stop a clear goal though. Foul someone when they’ve got a clear shooting opportunity, or handball a shot that’s on target, then sure, a penalty is the way to go. Those make up a minority of penalty offences though.

Oh just fuck off. He’s a professional trying to do a very hard job, where no matter what he does he’s gonna cop a load of abuse from whatever group of fans/players his decisions go against.

People like you moan that refs are shit, yet are happy to abuse them, without realising that the ridiculous level of abuse directed at refs is a huge reason why refs aren’t better.

Wouldn’t dispute that it does help protect the big clubs’ positions, but also look at bankruptcies/administrations in the lower leagues before and after FFP… It’s helped hugely to keep clubs afloat.
