  • Nice username!

Mentally, I sidestep the meaning issue by thinking,

    spoiler

“the lyrics are in a language unknown to humans, used by souls in Elysium” since parts of the melody and vocals start as Maximus is dying and the song starts after he has died.

It would be cool to hear a Latin version, though. I wonder how that would have changed how the song sounded and whether I would have enjoyed it as much.

    Some interesting interviews:

    Zimmer on working with Gerrard.

In an interview, she says that the words she comes up with are an automatic response to the music and each piece of music has its own language.

  • This is one of my all time favorite pieces of music. I love how it feels as if it’s constantly lifting higher and higher.

    My favorite parts:

    • 42s start of vocals
    • 50s the vocals start having a kind of breathless quality
    • 58s it’s like you’ve broken through some clouds and into brilliant sunlight where you bask for a bit
    • 1:14 it picks up again with accompanying drums
    • 1:39 vocals

  • The video has good points, though it also has lots of photos and clips of centipedes that aren’t house centipedes, some of which are venomous and can definitely hurt humans.

Even if they’re harmless, I’d find it unnerving to have them around because I’d worry about whether one could have wandered under my sheets or into a shoe. If I see one in the basement I’d leave it alone, but if I saw one in my bedroom or bathroom, that’s a dead bug brah.

  • The post was mostly aimed at [email protected], but hearing what the community wants might help them to decide as well.

My vote would be for a broader definition.

    • Less headaches for mods, since they wouldn’t have to worry about users who unknowingly post non-genre music. Also, it isn’t always easy to know if a song belongs in the genre.
    • Users wouldn’t have to worry about whether a song they have in mind fits, making participating easier and less stressful.
    • I think it would appeal to more people, since (I assume) most people would visit the community having a broad/descriptive definition in mind, leading to more community growth.
    • There’s far more music that can be shared, leading to more diversity in the posted music.
