Agreed. This article is complaining that Harris didn’t shoot everyone in the collective foot.

I don’t miss XML, but at least it has support for comments. On the other hand, I wish whitespace in XML wasn’t significant. JSON needs to die in favor of JSON 5.
I still think the core problem lies with advertising on social media, especially contextual/targeted advertising. What if we prohibited for-profit social media companies?
Nailed it.
Countries can do a lot of things. You’re discussing something that didn’t happen though.
According to the article, we sanctioned Venezuela, and they ignored those sanctions to purchase and smuggle a plane from the US.
The sanctions themselves are a separate discussion, but I think a reasonable person could expect some form of consequence. To be clear, I’m not defending the sanctions. I haven’t spent enough time reading about them to form an opinion.
?
Was Air Force One illegally purchased in China and smuggled out?
I wonder if there’s any correlation to PAC contributions.
You may know more about this than I do, but this seems incorrect. The crypto industry relies on trading commodities. If they wanted a digital currency, would they not lobby for a central bank digital currency?
This is embarrassing. Currency should never be an industry in the first place.
I’ve always been confused by VISAs that disallow application for permanent residence. This seems like a bad faith gesture on the government’s part. You’re setting folks up for failure because life happens.
What if we allow individuals to apply for residence regardless of VISA type and incentivize abandoning the opportunity by returning a security deposit of sorts?
Glad to see it! I’m tired of MAGA tarnishing terms that have traditionally held a positive connotation.
This article makes perfect the enemy of good. The DNC covered many substantial topics and presented a cohesive and relevant argument for electing Harris and Walz.
This article is garbage.
I’m glad to see the continued pressure about Gaza, but this is garbage.
It seems like we’re doing the human thing and interpreting things differently.
I read all of these comments in context on Discourse and came to my previous conclusions. The ban still seems out of place to me.
Tim mentioned several times that his concern was the community, and his comments all appear to foster inclusion. He seems to find a little more good in people than the steering committee allows.
Having read the comment in context, I think Gregory was reaching. Tim generally communicates in a disarming manner and simply observed that he doesn’t like how “sexual harassment training” sounds and prefers not to use that phrase.
It’s also not clear if posts have been deleted or altered, so I might be missing something.
This piqued my curiosity after witnessing recent issues in the Nixpkgs community, so I poked around Discourse for a few minutes.
Wow… Tim seems like one of the nicest folks on the face of the planet. I don’t get it.
Did I miss something? It seems like they’re shooting themselves in the foot here.
Were the mods upset about this community discussion after Karl was banned?
Agreed. A lot of money has been spent on crafting agenda and shaping public and party opinions. Although malicious, Project 2025 seems carefully considered. I assume the wealthy investors bankrolling the project have considered Trump’s mortality as well.
I’m not really sure how to reach voters that aren’t naturally disgusted by Trump. E.g. how do you dissuade someone from shooting themselves in the foot when the prospect alone is insufficient?
