I warm up in manual mode. My PDK is an early version - 2010 997.2 - and I find that in regular auto mode it takes far too long to warm up, because the car is in 5th or 6th gear at only 1400 rpm on my normal commute.
So I use manual, and a gentle throttle, but I hold the gear until 2500 rpm initially, then 3000 rpm after a couple of kilometres until the oil temp comes off the stop, then I often use sport mode and auto from then on.
