I have a 2021 Mazda 3 with approx 23,000 miles on it. I’m trying to understand how the manufacturer warranty works, specifically regarding transmission/powertrain. I’m getting confusing answers when looking - would this still fall under manufacturer warranty for transmission replacement even once the car passes 3 years old?
Yes, your bumper to bumper warranty is 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. Your powertrain – engine and transmission primarily – are warranted for five years or 60k miles, whichever comes first.
It is a 21. Since it is 24 does that mean his bumper to bumper is over and only has 2 years left on his power train
You don’t even need to have proof of scheduled maintenance…UNLESS there’s a question about whether it didn’t get it and that was relevant to the failure. That’s where it does help and simply keeping a record (write date/miles of the service in the back of the owners manual) will go a long way to prove you did it.
A record and receipts are also really good to get top dollar for a well maintained used car sale, although really only for a private sale. Dealers could care less for a trade-in since they’ll still give bottom-dollar on a trade even though they tell you how great it it.
