minus-squarelu5ty@alien.topBlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up1·10 months agoDealers make 10x the sale amount on service and repairs. Why the fuck would they want to sell cars that require almost no service? lol
minus-squareFledglingNonCon@alien.topBlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up1·10 months agoThey don’t which us why automakers who have to rely on them are screwed and why 2/3rd of EV sales in the US don’t go through dealers.
minus-squareDeepfriedWings@alien.topBlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up1·10 months agoFor real. Car dealerships are set up in such a way where the almost benefit off screwing over unsuspecting customers that come in for services. Why in the world would they want to support something that directly eats their profits? The markup on an oil change alone is astronomical.
minus-squareTroggie42@alien.topBlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up1·10 months agothey DO benefit from that, that’s their entire business model, no almost about it
minus-squareInfinite-EV@alien.topBlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up1·10 months agothe nasty part is that the service department has targets too, not just sales. Meaning that if they need to hit their target they will 100% scam a few people at least
