Hey guys! I’ve had my Mazda6 2018 Touring for about 3 years now, and it’s been a smooth ride until recently. During a long road trip, my “low oil” indicator popped up after 500 miles. I topped up with about 8-10oz, and the level stayed constant for the next 1500 miles. Even now the oil level is the same as it was after I topped it up.
Any thoughts on this? Also, does Mazda’s Powertrain warranty cover such issues before hitting 100,000 miles? I am at 98 000 miles now.
When and where was your last oil change? It could have been a low (or near low) fill?
Everyone should make a habit of routinely checking the oil, especially right after an oil change. You’d be surprised how incompetent some technicians are.
I was very close to my next oil change
8-10 ozs isn’t much and that’s a bit troubling. That’s because if it cleared the low-oil warning light it only just BARELY clears it, leaving a potentially much larger volume of oil you should have available that’s not there.
Check oil level with the dipstick. Make sure it’s at the full mark.
