I can’t quote it all, but I do have a few choice verse numbers memorized.

      Like Mathew 25:31-46.

There’s also a Cake song tangentially about it.

Anyway, it’s the one that says to open your home to immigrants and the poor, and to treat prisoners with love and compassion. It’s also one of the small number of verses of the bible that explicitly says that if you don’t proactively live up to the standards set, you’re going to hell. Welcome the immigrant, help the poor, visit the prisoners, or go to hell.

And it’s one of the most ignored by modern Christians.

Supply side Jesus wants you to know to exploit those guys for every cent they’re worth.

          Especially the prisoners.

This is a big factor in me leaving all religion. Yeah sure it says that but if you point these passages out to them they will explain how “really” means the exact opposite. No one really struggles for long with what their God wants. They find the way to make their God want what they want.

I have heard Christian leaders argue that strangers in your land were really slaves and since we don’t have slaves that doesn’t apply anymore. I have seen them also argue that they were legal immigrants (converts) and since illegals aren’t legal this doesn’t apply to them. I have seen them argue that the Bible doesn’t really talk about government charity welfare programs are usurping personal charity.

They don’t even have to quote mine and find the verses that go against these ones, they just change the verses you mention to suit their position.

This is why they do not want you reading the texts for yourself by yourself. And to be fair no legal authorities want that. Could you imagine if every since traffic court or zoning application began with a demand for a court appointed lawyer, a jury of your peers, pointing out that traffic cameras are technically hearsay evidence, and that you were never read your rights.

Humanity once in a while, probably by accident, writes something good and it gets taken as authority. Then spends who knows how long trying to find a way around it. The Bible is shit. A few phrases are worth something and yet it doesn’t matter.

        Yes! Matthew 22- 34-40

bBut when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced cthe Sadducees, they gathered together. 35 dAnd one of them, ea lawyer, asked him a question fto test him. 36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” 37 And he said to him, g“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment. 39 And ha second is like it: iYou shall love your neighbor as yourself. 40 jOn these two commandments depend kall the Law and the Prophets.”

This clearly says, love me and love your neighbors, these are the 2 greatest commandments. Yet, they love themselves the most.
