Today I have come across two different accounts that were probably a misinformation toll and probably a scammer. Is there a way to report these accounts and the communities they make right to Lemmy.world admins?.

I think you want to just report the specific posts, and let the mods figure out if they want to take broader action against the account in general

Afaik, the only way to get anything elevated to an instance admin is to contact them directly. Using the report feature goes to the community mods (and might not even work). They certainly never show up in my mod report inbox even when I myself report something in the communities I moderate on another account.

Yep, what are you using to browse Lemmy? Reporting is built in. Hit the 3 dots and tap Create Report if using the web UI.

There’s a report feature for user accounts and for posts and for comments. For user accounts specifically, click on their usename to go to the user details page and select “report user.” On the web interface, it’s just a button. On Jerboa, it’s in a menu that pops up when you click the triple dots button at the top right. I’d imagine most Lemmy clients support that feature.

When you report a comment it goes to the community moderators, the admins on that community, and if the user is from a different instance, the admins on their home instance.

I believe if you go to their account page and report them, it only goes to the admins of their home instance.
