The electrifying ballerina, walking Tesla Coil, the other electricity themed frame - Gyre!

Release date: 2022-04-27

Passive: Gyre’s abilities gain a flat 10% Critical Chance per active Electricity status proc affecting an individual enemy to deal 2.0x Critical Damage against that enemy.
Arcsphere - Launch a Gyratory Sphere that will deal high damage on impact and periodically deal electrical shocks to nearby enemies. Hit multiple enemies at once with the initial launch to enhance damage.
Coil Horizon - Throw forward a Gyratory Sphere that will implode after a few seconds or can be manually triggered.
Cathode Grace - Gain a brief burst of increased Critical Chance and Energy Regen, with each kill extending duration of Cathode Grace. Casting is on a cooldown.
Rotorswell - Gyre’s mechanisms spin at incredible speeds, generating an Electric Field that shocks nearby enemies. When Gyre gets a critical hit, a large electrical discharge will chain from the enemy that was hit to nearby enemies.

Acquisition: Component and main blueprints can be acquired from The Holdfasts’ bounties on the Chrysalith.

She’s very good. Though she doesn’t really shine until you add her Cathode Grace augment.

Falcor should be her signature weapon. I also run her with ambassador or Amprex and Quatz.

I never got her to click with me but I recently took her into a SP circuit and holy hell… that was a wild ride, electricity procs for ages all over the map. Tons of energy to spare, electricity procs from various weapon decrees, it was amazing.

The only issue, as usual with frames that don’t have any built-in defenses, is lack of DR to tank higher level enemies, so you either gotta shieldgate or dodge and toggle operator like a chipmunk on heroin I guess. I do like how all her abilities fit together though, none are free helminth slots.

Primed Redirection on Pillage is super comfy now, since you’re basically always at your 2.5s shieldgate.

I know it works well, I just personally really dislike the concept of shieldgating. what do you even dump in favor of pillage, her #1 ability?

Yeah, while it’s a powerful nuke, it works best with her 2. It also has redundancy with her 4 in that both are “deal electric damage”. I’ve tried replacing her 2, but the utility of an absolutely massive grouping ability is too hard to pass up.

If you don’t like shield gating and want a more passive build for general play, eclipse+primed redirection+arcane aegis+adaptation passively tanks for a while, although I haven’t tried to see how far it scales. Her damage output and CC are good enough that she doesn’t actually take that much damage to begin with.

          First or second power.

I dumped the second personally, I like giant shock balls more than gravity bombs I guess.

Love her. Pair her with the Gotva Prime and I can easily run Nehtra Cells. She benefits a ton from Pillage as her added power. Minmax for power and slap the Cathode Grace augment on and spam powers like you can’t run out of energy.

I remember this frame being insane on release to the point her rapid damage ticks crashed the game for some people. Then she got “fixed” which also nerfed her to the point of irrelevancy. I never seen much of her since then. I never played her much myself, especially post her changes, did this frame ever get her teeth back or is she still just a worse Volt?

Yeah, two big changes came down the wire (hee hee) for Gyre: the first was Cathode Current, which makes enemy deaths trigger a double damage Rotorswell discharge, and also keeps it self-refreshing the way Cathode Grace does. The second was the capping of enemy armour at 90%, so now her lightning hits hard.

I believe ragdolled enemies take electric radial ticks to every individual body part too, so just suctioning enemies into Coil Horizon will heavily damage them, if not killing weaker factions outright.

Instead of “Volt but not as much” I’d compare Gyre to grape flavoured Saryn. She’s all about abusing the hell out of electric mechanics to blanket the map in huge amounts of damage.

Glad to see that, for how squishy this frame is she definitely deserves to have the damage and AoE to wipe the whole map with ease. I might try her out instead of Saryn the next time I need to erase a Grineer galleon worth of troops from existence!

If you want to avoid the squishiness, the new holy trinity of passive defensive tools is Eclipse+Primed Redirection+Arcane Aegis, but Health Conversion+Arcane Blessing+Fractured Blast/Lycath’s Hunt is still good. The Eclipse build can tank really well for a few hundred levels, and it’s my daily driver Gyre build. Anything more and Pillage sadly does just kind of win for survivability, and is what I use for Circuit.

gyre mains, do you just ask your pub teams to let you get enough kills? what do you do if someone’s already nuking?

Gyre herself is the “nobody else gets to play” frame. I run 155% duration so I just need to get a handful of kills at the start and the buffs are self-sustaining. Enemies only need to be tagged by Rotorswell or Coil Horizon to get the duration extension, so after a point you just have to keep up and keep throwing Coil Horizon.

I didn’t know you could get more duration on assists but its the “I just need to get a handful of kills at the start” that causes problems for me. Especially in exterminations or defense where it’s not quite so dense

Madurai helps with that too, since Power Transfer gives you faster casting, and you can naturally get Sling Strength by rapidly void dashing to the first pack of enemies.

Run ahead and try to get some kills rolling.

If I can’t get enough kills to maintain my buffs then I’m getting carried so I can relax and not sweat it.
