I have used the basic vanilla Colemak layout since April 2023, so it’s been about three months. I learned Colemak by typing some words on a typing exercise site for about 10 to 30 hours (didn’t count) in mostly around 10 to 60 minute sessions over the course of about a month or so while mostly still using QWERTY at that time as my main layout. After learning the positions of all the English letter keys on Colemak, I ditched QWERTY and switched to Colemak almost completely. Colemak has become such a joyful layout to type in. It feels like my fingers won’t get tangled and the overall ease of typing far exceeds that of QWERTY.
