Based on the Mercedes subreddits and forums, it’s not shocking to see them at the bottom of the list.
Considering the Billions in fines that they’re expected to receive for not meeting fuel economy standards, hybrid propulsion may benefit them while also catering to those who’d like a hybrid powertrain in their products.
The first gen was horrific looking!
I wonder what direction Honda will take with the next CTR. I’m betting it’ll be a Hybrid.
It’s a good engine in terms of fuel efficiency and meeting emissions as it’s intended to do so, but longevity is questionable and it’s not because of the oil dilution. The head gasket issues that the 10th Gen Accord (some CR-Vs and Civics but not as many) equipped with 1.5T is horrible. If you look on forums and YouTube, you’ll see many owners complaining about them failing. The fuel injectors equipped with the engine also seem to be problematic.
Mine is over 95k+ and has been trouble free though so fingers crossed.
As it stands, they’re ahead of Honda and Toyota. Those companies will eventually catch up, but they have the funds to do so.
They plan a new Leaf (small crossover) and 2 EV sedans in 2025 as 2026 model years, and 2 EV crossovers in 2027 and 2028. This is because they’re transforming Canton plant into their EV hub so they can qualify for IRA. With those efforts, they also plan on bringing a e-Power Rogue (X-Trail) to the States.
That’s the main car that I’m referring to. The W206 C Class and new GLC seem to be the worst offenders!
