I think it’s more of an image thing. It’s going to be a status symbol for a while especially with low production for the forseeable future. Sure most buyers won’t need that payload, but it gives them a number to brag about how superior it is to other trucks as they drive it to Starbucks.
I’m pretty convinced the vast majority of people who own trucks would be better served by a Maverick or Ridgeline and I wish some effort would be put into electrifying that class.
You know option 3 is kinda compelling and never occurred to me… I’m typically out there at predictable times with the dog so I could just use a regular smart plug with a schedule to turn off at set times. I mean if it turned off at 10pm it might not catch it as quick as possible but it would certainly be better than letting it run overnight.
