People who say stuff like this are in a place of privilege. “Who cares if Trump wins again, we’ll organize against him!” Meanwhile he consolidates control (see his recent comments about increasing presidential powers), bans trans healthcare (even for adults), and appointing more SCOTUS justices that will make your organizing pointless.
Abstaining from voting is handing power to the far right.
No its not voting is handing power to neo liberal warmongers. Biden and Obama are really fighting against this he totally is defending you and not just his business interests. To claim my position is privileged is to ignore that you can’t destroy the united states by working within its systems.
He doesn’t have to fight for me, but he’s most certainly not actively fighting against me. There is a big difference between a party rooted in corruption and too busy stuffing their own pockets to care, and a party rooted in corruption that’s actively scapegoating the vulnerable, minorities, and the non-wealthy in order to enrich itself.
Except he is actively fighting against you in many of his actions he enables the republicans to enrich himself and similar rich elites. He is actively supporting Palestinian genocide, the violence of borders. enhancing the police while they harass imprison and kill with immunity. To claim he is not fighting against you is wrong if you are poor, nonwhite, non citizen or many other groups.
Never said the republicans weren’t fighting against you as well they are allies against you. The only realistic option to stop the climate collapse and the mass exploitation of capitalism is to destroy the current world order completely.
So stop the impending societal collapse by…hastening societal collapse?
There is a conversation to be had about reforms that absolutely need to be driven in the progressive arm of the Democratic party in general, but that is a separate conversation and one to be had through primary votes and reform (at least in the current iteration of the electoral system). What you’re advocating above is the equivalent of shooting myself in the dick to prevent an oncoming car from hitting me. The car is still going to hit me, but now I’ll also have a blown off dick.
Why not its a blatantly oppressive imperialist settler colonial power. If you don’t want to destroy it you are arguing for continuing the oppression of people around the world, the continued occupation of indigenous land and the continued exploitation of black people. The united states has all these as a central pillar and can’t exist without them. So should these exist or should the united states exist?
False dichotomy. The US ceasing to exist does not stop those things from happening. Indeed, in the short term, things would probably get a hell of a lot worse, as there would be a massive, global power vacuum.
The US ceasing to exist won’t stop those things by themself but it is necessary to stop them at all. Stop with this global power vacuum nonsense the US enforcing imperialism and its economic interests abroad isn’t a good thing and stopping it won’t make the world worse.
The collapse of the Roman Empire led to hundreds of years of conflict and poverty in Europe. We see the same today in the wake of the Ottoman Empire in the Middle East & North Africa.
Do you have any reasonable expectation of what happens in the aftermath? Or do you just want to burn it down without thinking about the consequences?
DeSantis, the guy who militarized the Florida State Guard, gave them 90 mil for military tanks, planes, boats, and guns, and appointed leaders who abused them and threw disagreeing old ex-Marines into white vans? The guy who said they’re doing this so they can invade other states and deal with immigrants and anyone else they deem a threat?
I don’t think its a threat as much as its a joke. It could be a threat if they actually had any indication of any authority. But, right now it just seems like the same as they said “careful what you about Zeus- you might find yourself getting struck by lightning.”
well, he’s under 50 - we’ve had enough boomer-generation Presidents. on that note alone I’d vote for him. he’s also got experience in government, which Trump certainly didnt have - but literally anyone was better than another Clinton so he was basically a shoe-in.
is tanking the economy of the state he governs for political brownie points with the most extreme conservative and authoritarian factions in the country
wastes time, money, and effort perpetrating imbecilic culture wars just to give the aforementioned psychotic political base a category of “undesirables” to direct their hate and fear towards
has - as a matter of public record - directed state law enforcement agencies to intimidate and harass a data scientist and her family during the pandemic simply because she was calling the state government out for data manipulation
as a public policy during the pandemic, actively worked against public health measures, which provably increased the number of fatalities, and overall encouraged diminished trust in science and vaccines in conservative political circles
is pandering to authoritarians, hate groups, and white supremacists
has signed laws that allow the state to remove children from parents simply because said parents are understanding and accommodating if their kid feels more comfortable presenting outside of the heteronormative paradigm
(we can go on; those are just some domestically-relevant bullet points, and I got tired of reciting heinous and idiotic shit he’s doing)
I detest how neoliberal Biden is. I wish he was younger. But if the choice is him or a literal fascist, I know who I’m voting for, and it’s not going to be the guy who is simply less old.
Yes. But there are certain candidates who are objectively worse than others. As an example: any candidate who purposely undermines democratic processes is objectively worse than any candidate who does not.
Not for someone who doesn’t consider democracy to be a good thing. So one might be objectively anti-democratic but that’s not objectively bad. It’s bad in my and your opinion, but maybe not for the parent. So uhm, get out and vote like democracy depends on it. 🥲
Oh? RFK? West? Who has a real shot?
Cornell west
Nobody with that attitude. Also you can’t destroy the oppressive systems that enslave us using their weapons. Don’t vote organize.

True…but the other realistic option under the current US electoral system is THE REPUBLICANS. The ones that you’re blaming him for enabling.
Might want to look up the last few years of Republican policies and talking points. Gaslighting is not a good look
Never said the republicans weren’t fighting against you as well they are allies against you. The only realistic option to stop the climate collapse and the mass exploitation of capitalism is to destroy the current world order completely.

What if… and hear me out here… I don’t want to destroy the United States?

So what do you suggest? Armed insurrection? Let’s see how well 1/6/31 goes for you

Who said I’m a tankie has that word lost all meaning that opposing us imperialism is tankie behavior. Hell I’m an anarchist.
Lol the mods here are such pussies, they deleted our comments 🤣
Yep sucks :(
possibly deSantis
DeSantis is better than Biden?
just about anyone is better than Biden. 90% are younger too
DeSantis, the guy who militarized the Florida State Guard, gave them 90 mil for military tanks, planes, boats, and guns, and appointed leaders who abused them and threw disagreeing old ex-Marines into white vans? The guy who said they’re doing this so they can invade other states and deal with immigrants and anyone else they deem a threat?
Man, you are really outing yourself as a fascist.

Lol. I’m pretty sure that thinly-veiled threat is reportable.
I don’t think its a threat as much as its a joke. It could be a threat if they actually had any indication of any authority. But, right now it just seems like the same as they said “careful what you about Zeus- you might find yourself getting struck by lightning.”
“It’s a joke” is Republican for “I said what I meant in earnest and got pushback for it.”

Are you saying you’ll vote for DeSantis? If so, why? And how do you think he’d be better than Biden?
well, he’s under 50 - we’ve had enough boomer-generation Presidents. on that note alone I’d vote for him. he’s also got experience in government, which Trump certainly didnt have - but literally anyone was better than another Clinton so he was basically a shoe-in.
You vote for presidents based on… age?
yep, it’s far more logical than believing the lies that they spout during their campaign
So you see 0 correlation between what politicians campaign on and the end results of what they do in office?
So you’d vote for an overt fascist, who:
I detest how neoliberal Biden is. I wish he was younger. But if the choice is him or a literal fascist, I know who I’m voting for, and it’s not going to be the guy who is simply less old.
the benefit of an individual vote is that you get to make the choice, and you can vote for anyone you want
Yes. But there are certain candidates who are objectively worse than others. As an example: any candidate who purposely undermines democratic processes is objectively worse than any candidate who does not.

Yep. Because it does depend on it, considering the caliber of the candidates the GOP is pushing.
