Failed on Friday after 2 weeks AF. All weekend has been a blur and even though I’m working now all I can think about is beer. I just can’t beat this thing

    No one gets right on a bike and starts riding it perfectly. You’re going to fail sometimes, and that’s okay. Falling down is okay. Staying down isn’t.

    So long as you keep getting up and back on the bike, you haven’t failed.

    I believe in you. I know you can do this. One day, I promise you, you’ll look back and how you’re feeling right now will be so far away, it’ll feel like a different person.

    Keep pedaling, buddy.

    Hey bud! Don’t be too hard on yourself. It took me multiple tries to stop drinking for longer than a week. Locking myself in my room and keeping myself distracted with Kava and edibles eventually helped. I’m at 228 days and I’m not even smoking weed anymore. You can do it

    It’s ok to fail. It took me years of trying. I failed massively several times over those years. I know it feels impossible to believe, but one day you will be able to not think about alcohol. Just keep practicing not drinking. Also, shrooms helped me massively.

    You’ve not beaten it yet.

    If you keep telling yourself you can’t beat it, then you won’t. Change your internal voice to something with some wiggle room. You’ve not beaten it yet, accepts where you are, but notably, adds the idea that there is a future where you will.

    Stumbling is okay. Try not to be too hard on yourself. You’ve learned. You’ve learned what works, and perhaps more importantly, what doesn’t.

    Give yourself a bit of time to grieve, then get up and step forward. You are not starting again, your moving forward from a stronger position.

    You’ve got this.

    No one can run a marathon on their first try. What you’re trying to do isn’t easy or simple.

    You’re going to stumble and fall. You’re going to feel weak. And while they feel bad, they are also helping you build the strength to help you finish the marathon.

    Pick yourself up, and dust yourself off. Remember how you feel today. Use this memory to help you say no to the beer. Choose to drink something non-alcoholic instead. Virgin pina coladas and virgin mojitos are good this time of year.

    You are building the strength to stop drinking, even when you fail.

    Let people know you’re not drinking. Don’t hang out with beer, or other people drinking. There’s a reason people need to change their “playgrounds” and “playmates”. It doesn’t make sense to keep everything the same. Unless you want to drink.
